How to Open and Extract RAR Files

Open RAR and RAR5 archives with 7-Zip without needing WinRAR.

    Make sure 7-Zip is installed

    7-Zip can fully extract RAR and RAR5 archives. No additional software like WinRAR is needed.

    Right-click the RAR file

    Locate your .rar file in Windows Explorer, right-click it, and navigate to "7-Zip".

    Choose extraction method

    Select "Extract Here" or "Extract to [folder name]\" depending on your preference.

    Handle multi-volume archives

    If the RAR is split into multiple parts (.part1.rar, .part2.rar, etc.), right-click the first part (.part1.rar or .rar) and extract. 7-Zip will automatically combine all parts.

    Enter password if prompted

    If the RAR is password-protected, enter the password when prompted. 7-Zip supports all RAR encryption methods.
